Terms of Service
1. Agreement
By accessing or using Social Muslims on the web, mobile app, checkout pages, events, support channels, or related services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What the Service Is
Social Muslims is a Muslim marriage-focused matchmaking platform. Depending on your account and purchases, the service may include profile-book access, personal matchmaking, human-curated introductions, identity verification, event access, scheduling, video introductions, credits, memberships, and support. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
3. Eligibility and Your Promises
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding contract.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information.
- You must only use the service for lawful, genuine, and personal matchmaking purposes.
- You must not create an account for someone else without authority.
- You are responsible for account security, device security, and activity under your account unless caused by our fault.
4. No Guarantee of Matches, Introductions, or Marriage
We do not guarantee that you will receive matches, curated introductions, responses, video calls, events, relationship success, marriage outcomes, compatibility, or any minimum level of activity. Matchmaking is inherently subjective and depends on factors outside our control, including other users’ intentions, honesty, preferences, timing, and conduct.
5. Verification and Safety
We may offer verification, moderation, reporting, blocking, and identity checks. These measures reduce risk but do not eliminate it. Unless we expressly say otherwise in writing, we do not guarantee that any user is safe, truthful, compatible, financially stable, emotionally suitable, legally single, or free from criminal history. You remain responsible for your own judgment and personal safety, including for off-platform communications or in-person meetings.
6. Acceptable Use Rules
- No harassment, coercion, stalking, bullying, threats, hate speech, sexual exploitation, blackmail, fraud, impersonation, or illegal activity.
- No false profiles, misleading claims, fake photos, or concealment of material facts where that would mislead users or the platform.
- No scraping, automated extraction, reverse engineering, botting, load testing, malware, or attempts to bypass security or platform rules.
- No posting or sending unlawful, obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, violent, or privacy-infringing content.
- No publishing another person’s personal data, recordings, screenshots, or call content without lawful basis and all permissions required by law.
- No use of the service for advertising, recruitment, escorting, spam, surveys, political campaigning, or other unrelated commercial activity.
7. Content You Provide
You keep ownership of content you submit, but you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, display, moderate, and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, review, support, and improve the service and to investigate abuse, complaints, or legal issues. You confirm you have the right to upload that content and that it does not violate law or these Terms.
8. Matchmaking Operations and Discretion
We may use rules, internal scoring, operational judgment, moderation signals, timing preferences, profile quality thresholds, safety concerns, and human or automated review to decide whether, when, and how to surface profiles, offer personal matchmaking, present introductions, limit features, or prioritize support. Unless mandatory law says otherwise, we are not obliged to explain every internal ranking or matchmaking decision.
9. Paid Services, Credits, and Memberships
- Some features require payment, such as credits, event tickets, or personal matchmaking membership.
- Prices, durations, included features, and eligibility criteria may change.
- Apple App Store purchases are also governed by Apple’s terms, billing rules, and refund processes where applicable.
- Direct web purchases may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe.
- Where a paid digital service starts immediately after purchase, you request immediate performance and acknowledge that any cancellation rights may be reduced or lost to the extent permitted by law once the digital service begins or is fully performed.
- Used credits, completed introductions, completed event bookings, time-based services already delivered, and services already substantially performed are generally non-refundable unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
- Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
10. Calls, Events, and Offline Meetings
You are responsible for deciding whether to join a call, attend an event, or meet someone in person. Any off-platform interaction, travel, accommodation, gifts, financial support, gifts of mahr, or personal decisions are your own responsibility. The platform is not an emergency service, chaperone, counselling service, immigration adviser, matrimonial guarantee, or personal security provider.
11. Moderation, Suspension, and Termination
We may investigate reports, remove content, limit visibility, cancel introductions, withhold features, refuse service, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts where we reasonably believe this is necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, chargeback risk, platform integrity, or enforcement of these Terms. We may also preserve and disclose relevant information where legally required or reasonably necessary to protect users, the public, or the business.
12. Communications
You agree that we may send you transactional and service-related communications by app, push, email, SMS, phone, or WhatsApp where appropriate for account management, verification, billing, safety, support, matchmaking operations, scheduling, and reminders. Marketing communications are handled separately in accordance with applicable law and your choices.
13. Intellectual Property
We or our licensors own the platform, software, branding, logos, creative materials, databases, and service content other than user-submitted content. You may use the service only for its intended personal purpose. You must not copy, resell, licence, sublicense, distribute, exploit, or create derivative works from the service except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
14. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, security perfection, match quality, user conduct, identity accuracy, or specific outcomes. We do not provide legal advice, religious rulings, therapy, immigration advice, financial advice, or guarantees of nikah or long-term compatibility.
15. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your mandatory consumer rights. Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or for loss of profits, reputation, data, goodwill, opportunity, or anticipated savings;
- we are not responsible for the acts, omissions, statements, content, or off-platform conduct of users or third parties;
- where permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or connected with the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and £100.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will be responsible for losses, claims, costs, and expenses arising from your unlawful conduct, your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or your infringement of another person’s rights.
17. Consumer Rights and Complaints
If you have a complaint, contact admin@socialmuslims.co.uk first and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from relying on any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
18. Privacy
Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the law, guidance, service providers, product design, safety practices, pricing, or business operations. The latest version will be posted on this page. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms, except where law requires more specific consent.
20. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer law in your country of habitual residence gives you the benefit of other mandatory protections. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may hear disputes arising out of these Terms.
